We will commence with an overview of the DeFi landscape, delving into the precise definition of DeFi and its distinguishing characteristics in contrast to Traditional Finance (TradFi). We will also explore the historical evolution of DeFi and categorize the various facets of the DeFi ecosystem. Additionally, we will place significant emphasis on elucidating the disparities between DeFi and TradFi, providing you with a profound insight into the opportunities and risks inherent in Decentralized Finance.

The core of the course will focus on the foundational mechanics and core principles that underlie all DeFi protocols. For instance, we will have a look at the building blocks that make up DeFi applications and observe how they play together to create entirely new financial services. We will also delve into the incentive structures commonly found in the most successful DeFi protocols.

Once we’ve established this essential foundation, we will transition to the practical aspect of the course. Here, we will immerse ourselves in three specific DeFi protocols: Uniswap (a decentralized exchange), Aave (a decentralized lending and borrowing solution), and Unslashed Finance (a decentralized insurance protocol). Throughout these in-depth explorations, we will not only dissect the inner workings of these protocols but also engage in on-chain demonstrations to illustrate how to effectively utilize these applications in practice. Along the way, you will gain valuable practical insights and tips, and you will have the opportunity to experiment with these protocols firsthand.

Within the DeFi course, this module serves as the central component where we address the specific components of DeFi, the diverse incentive systems employed in DeFi projects, and various governance strategies, among other topics. Subsequently, we will illustrate the principles outlined in this module through real-world examples in the three in-depth modules.

Setting up your DeFi wallet
If you have already installed your personal wallet, you have the option to bypass this module in the DeFi course. However, if you haven't, we will guide you through the process of setting up your MetaMask wallet in this module. This wallet will be instrumental in our practical demonstrations later on.

Deep dive decentralized exchanges
Welcome to the realm of decentralized exchanges! First, I will provide you with a comprehensive explanation of the inner workings of the renowned decentralized exchange, Uniswap. We will delve into essential DeFi principles like automated market makers and impermanent loss. Naturally, we will also take the opportunity to directly engage in on-chain exchange activities and generate a few Liquidity Provider (LP) tokens ourselves.

Deep dive decentralized lending
The second deep dive within the DeFi course is dedicated entirely to the decentralized lending and borrowing protocol, Aave. We will provide an extensive examination of the protocol's operations, exploring intriguing lending aspects such as overcollateralization, liquidation thresholds, flash loans, and more. Naturally, we will also engage directly with Aave on the blockchain. If you aspire to be recognized as a DeFi expert, a thorough understanding of the Aave protocol is essential.

Deep dive decentralized insurance
The concluding deep dive within the DeFi course leads us into the captivating realm of decentralized insurance. In this segment, we will closely examine Unslashed Finance's unique approach, which employs a decentralized judicial system to determine the disbursement of funds in the event of a claim.
